What to bring?? Tell me and participate in a give-away drawing!

The house is very quiet.  Nina has been away for a week now.  She is having a fantastic time, learning so much about fashion and jewelry design, 3D printing, music editing, (yes, this is a camp! I wanna go too!).

My summer is busy with prep for Chicago.  We have hundreds of skeins and cards of fiber in every possible shade and hue ready for my Color Inspiration class.  We have beautiful kits of threads, beads, semi-precious gems, jewelry findings, ready for the Samburu class.  We have kits coming together, so many, as well as many other offerings for merchandise night in Chicago.
Every time I prepare for merchandise night, I feel I am able to anticipate what you, the stitchers, will be looking for.  I get this sunken feeling when I need to tell a customer: "It's not here, but I can ship it to you when I get back to the studio".  I know it's not a big deal, and I do ship for free, but from my own experience, I like to walk away with my purchase.  Nothing quite like opening a shopping bag in my hotel room and rummaging through my purchases.  Anyway, every year I make a list of what to bring and inevitably I find that there is a big surge of interest in something I don't have multiples of.  Big :(

So, maybe you can help me?  What would you like to see at the tables that night? What type of items do you tend to look for when away at a stitching event?  There is never enough room on the tables for everything I'd like to bring, so choosing the right items is crucial.

Write your ideas and thoughts in the comment section.  We will have a giveaway next week, an amazing fiber pack, in thanks for your efforts of helping me think this through!  Let me know what you like to see, what you don't like to see, what your past experiences have been, what works for you and what doesn't.  Don't hold back!!  Bad experiences in previous events?  Great experiences as a result of what?
Next Friday, July 18th, we will draw a winner, a recipient of a beautiful group of fibers that will grab your heart and not let go!!

Thank you again, my friends!  I know I can always count on you!!

I like to see a pattern for a project that includes everything except the thread. Many of us have a thread stash but don't always have all the other embroidery supplies or other things needed for a project. Possible hardware or findings, the right size beads, the right canvas, etc. Not that I'm planning on buying anything anytime soon. I've got a sewing and needlework room full of enough started and unstarted projects!

Please bring your cuffs (models and charts). Offer threads as a separate item, with lots of color options. Being realistic, 2-3 color options will work, after all you can't pack up the whole studio.

I also like the item of kits with the hard to find items - different beads, wires, etc.

PS see you in the color class.

I too am like Debbie I would like projects that would let me choose from my ever building stash. [suggestions are optional]

I love to pick up a thread pack with different fibres in the one colourway as well as a pattern i can use it in, not neccessarily in the same bag. I also love unusual findings, beads, etc to embellish which i am trying to do more of.

I admit it - I am a pattern junkie. Having any special items needed is a plus.

I love it when there are patterns and you can purchase the threads for the pattern if you want. I am trying to work more and more out of my comfort colors, so I tend to have to buy threads more lately.

I think thread packs with different colorways. I love all the ones that I've already bought from you, and if I was going in person, it would be great to see them in person. and also charts that could be bought with or without the kit.

I would also say bring special items like the cuffs or special beads.

KimM  – (July 12, 2014 at 5:57 AM)

I'd love to see the beads and embellishments you may have, complete projects (kits), as well as patterns with the option to purchase the threads separately. One thing that helps me pick out items is seeing a sample of the finished project.

Good luck! Sounds like a wonderful venue.

I like to have patterns available as well as a range of threads and supplies to choose from. Also, the boxes of fibers, beads, and wires/findings that you've made available from time to time--those are fun and inspiring!

Color family packs of thread as well as embellishments, so I can pick ie blue threads and beads too!

I am always looking for something unusual that I can't find at my local needlework shop in terms of embellishments and complete kits that have more than just a pattern/guide and thread.

I also like thread packs with a single colorway--and assorted embellishments. I love to look at colors and think about how I can use them in one piece.

whoops--didn't mean to be anonyomous. I love to see thread packs with one colorway in each. Also assortment of embellishments.

Hi Orna!

I really love the 12-pack of orange/yellow skis that you created for me. What about offering sets of 6 skeins in one hue, but a range of values. That way, if we (okay I), wanted two or three (okay four) hues in a range of values, I can pick and choose the values I want.

Can't wait to see what you bring!

I'd love to see Four Seasons in person. Seeing how you combine so many fibers and beads into such a small design would be great. $65 is a great price because it includes plenty of thread & directions. I have looked at this on Etsy & can't decide on a colorway! Melita Glavin

Oh, I love the look of what you are taking - and the ways you are packaging it. The colours look delicious! Most of all I would love to be able to see it for real but it will be a bit far to come from New Zealand. :-(

Pixie Cat  – (July 14, 2014 at 8:36 AM)

Definitely patterns. They don't take up much room in my luggage :-).

I like to see sets of thread colours that go together. These are always inspiring. beads and findings that are not readily available in a local shop are always great. Some kits, but as others said, it is great to get patterns so that you can use your own stash.
