February Giveaway! (and other stuff)

A bit late, but still February! So this time it's a bracelet. I made a series of these and they were very popular, so I made another batch. There are three left, this is one of them, and it can be yours. (Freshwater pearls, Swarovski crystals, gold plated beads on a satin cord).

What's the assignment? Describe your favorite color combination. But no Green and Yellow, oh no! I want: Green like the green that you see in the first blades of grass in the spring, but not too limey, and yellow like an over ripe lemon, with a hint of brown creeping in. Draw a picture in words.
This should be so much fun!

The giveaway starts today and ends at noon on February 26th. Don't wait till the last minute, cause I'm so anxious to read your combinations!

and on to other stuff...

On Saturday Nina and I traveled to New York to visit Shiri. We had a marvelous time. Nina had a blast with Toby. We had a typical touristy New York day: riding the subway, playing the huge piano at FAO Swartz, a quick visit to the American Girl doll store and we ended with dinner and a movie, (OK it was take out and Netflix).

Here are the kids on the subway.

It started quite calmly, with just a glimmer of mischievous in the eyes.

Next came the sticking out of the tongue. I smell trouble...

Notice the drawings on their hands? Those are super hero tattoos, silly!

This is what it looked like 10 seconds later!

I love New York!

One of my favorite color combos is Deep black, blazing red-orange, olive green, and royal purple. The red-orange electrifies the softness of the olive and depth of the purple.
The black envelops the other colors like an inky bowl of gems.

Oh my, I have two combinations of colours that I seem to thrive on. When I began to realize that I was getting OLD, I decided that I liked purple just like the old lady who said "when I grow old, I shall wear purple." So, I use purple and various shades of it in a lot of my stitching from a pale mauve right up to the rich velvety purple of royalty. At the moment, I'm doing a Swedish weaving afghan which is being worked on a light mauve monk's cloth and the yarn is various shades of "purple"!

The other combination of colours that I am crazy about now is pink and burgundy ever since I saw this combination at my baby sister's wedding a few years ago.

Pink and green. The pink has to that bright Pepto Bismol pink, and the green has to be that limey-bright one.

Oh, my, when I look up in the sky, I love the semi-pale blue of a sunny day. Add that to a deeper blue that adds a contrast or sliver that also adds a nice contrast of clouds floating in that sky. Those are the colors I'd choose.

OH, I'd start with the tropical turquoise of the water around a coral reef, blended with the deepening shades of blue-green, right down to a deep blue from the ocean's depths, all splashed with the gold of sunshine.

Marilyn,
who, as you can guess, is very tired of the cold winter in the northeast and pictures herself on a tropical island. Aaaaah!

Cute pictures of the children at their best - being children!
The colour combo that seems to catch my eye right now has swirls or shades of gold yellows to yellow-greens with accents of deep reds. I think these warm colours may also be because I'm tired of the grey of winter!

One of my favorite combos is the dusky deep blue of twilight along with the mauve pink sky of sunset.

My favourite combination for the last 20 years has been the midnight purple of irises with the cheery, almost too bright to be real, waxy yellow of buttercups. I find that the colour combinations seen in plants and animals can't be beaten!

My favorite color combo is is the color's of a robin's egg. The light blue like calming blue of the ocean and the deep brown contrast like the fresh bark of a summer tree.
