Marching into March!

I know it's a cliche, but seriously, time flies! I once complained about how the older you get, the faster times goes by and a friend said, no, it's just an illusion. He then gave me an example that illustrates the illusion of time. You know how when you turn over an hourglass, at first the sand slowly pours down into the bottom compartment. It's moving at the same pace the entire time it takes the sand to pass through into the bottom compartment, but at some point, near the end, it looks as if all of a sudden it's just racing at a faster pace, blub blub blub and it's gone. See, it's just an illusion.

I don't know about you, but it didn't make me feel any better.

Anyway, my last post was on February 22nd, 2009 and I didn't even notice that it was the one year anniversary, to the day, of this blog. WOW!

A celebration is called for! In honor of our 1 year anniversary we have an extra special giveaway for the month of March, (BTW, congratulations to Taffy on winning last month's gift, the bracelet!).

This month it's a signed copy of my book My Point Exactly.

How do you enter the giveaway? Tell me about one piece of art or craft you've been working on this year. Even better, send in a photo.

The contest starts today and ends March 9th @ noon. So, what have you been working on this year?

It's only fair that I show you what I've been working on here at the studio. Some new greeting cards with my sisters in mind ...

I miss my sisters.

This week's color experiment is a pastel combination. I'm not a pastel kinda gal but even I need to rest my eyes every once in awhile and play with something calming. It's a Colour Streams thread and I'm loving their combinations. You'll find the experiment in the How To section of our website.

Have a great, very great, week!

Here is my comment for the contest:

I miss my sister too =(.

BUT, I am slowly working on a cherry purse top and will be doing the Diamond Iris from the ANG Cyberpointers group.

I am still a needlepoint newbie, and still need to go to my LNS for lots of help and support, but there are so many projects I see that I want to do. The colors, especially of geometrics are what captures my attention

I'm not into pastels either, Orna, but you chose a beautiful combination. I love looking at your experiments.

I haven't done needlepoint in a long time, so maybe your book will give me inspiration! I do more quilting and embroidery now. I've started working on a baby quilt for my granddaughter that will include some redwork blocks.

I hope to have a chance to blog about it later today.

Have a good March!

I always seem to have several projects going at the same time these days. One long term project for this year is a series of 8 Kick Back & Stitch ornaments that will be finished into a spring wreath. They are being done in a rainbow colorway instead of pastels and are turning out really pretty so far.

Thanks for your site. I really enjoy seeing your work. I am working on Fred from Leigh Designs. Fred is a monkey that is smoking a cigar and drinking a martini. I have his friend Ginger but she is going to be next years project. I also have a travel piece, I am kitting Libby Sturdy's Chicago Santa and as soon as my supplies come in I am going to work on ANG's Cyber chapter's president's mystery piece. So many fun projects but so little time.

Thank you for the lovely designs that you produce. I really enjoy seeing your creations.

The main piece I am working on at the moment is a wedding sampler called Wedding Prayer designed by Joan Elliot. The wedding is in April so I'm expecting my piece to be late. I'm working from the kit by Design Works and the chart is quite hard to read so I'm going even slower than normal.

Mostly thanks to your blog I've recently joined Cyberpointers and signed up for the SAL for Midnight Garden. I had originally started this in 2006 but got sidetracked, so maybe now I'll finish it.

I have at least one project going all the time! Right now I am finishing a Cheryl snowman ornament and will be starting Tony Minieri's Kimono through ANG's stitch of the month!

I have been working of a Laura Perin Christmas Tree 2004 which was a class for our EGA group and we are all slow to finish. I also enjoy just simple Quaker designs to relax with. Please enter me in your contest. thank you Gayle jamesbrewerwaco@aol.com

Hi Orna,

Thanks so much for the opportunity to win your book. The projects I see look wonderful!

I don't have a sister, but my cousin and I are so close, she IS my sister. She lives far away, so I miss her, too!

I'm currently working on an ANG Cyberworkshop called Cobblefield Road, which was presented about 1-2 years ago. We were remodeling our kitchen and it got a little hairy trying to keep up with the class. Better late than never! It's a beautiful piece by Jean Hilton and is filled with all her fabulous stitches. It has been quite a learning experience for me, as I'm not exactly an old pro at needlepoint. People in the class changed the colors, but I'm keeping with the original ocean colors.

I have a few in my head being wrked out as soon as I finish a wedding quilt for this weekend, make a doll for my youngest granddaughter, American girl nightgown for oldest granddaughter doll and finish a Crazy Quilt RR I'm in. Then I have a beaded pouch I'm wanting to do for my best friend....

I am currently working on a heart. When finished I will hang in a prominent spot. My husband has recently been diagnosed with lymphoma and this will be a constant reminder that "my heart is filled with hope" that the treatment will be successful.

Very good projects. I am embroidery machine engineer. I usually used a machine to do that but you are one by one to hand made. Good!
