BOOM, they are gone.

Thank you for snatching up my bags so fast!  I'm sorry that I couldn't accommodate everyone, but I do have a few more goodies.

I have 5 tulip bags, these are wrist bags about 7.5" tall and 4" wide.  They are clenched with a belt and a needlepoint magnetic buckle.  Very cute and can be used to carry some small items when you need a free hand.  I'm offering these for $35 (plus shipping), each.

I have 3 brown ones, (each brown one is different), one mustard color and one lime color.  Just write Brown, Mustard, or Lime.  I will happily accommodate the first five of you.  Send me your Paypal email and I'll send you a Paypal invoice.

Thanks!!

I am very proud to share with you...

Some months ago Liz Kalloch contacted me and asked if I would participate in a project she was working on.  In her words:

I'm working on a year-long story/painting project called Tools & Talismans—a series of vignette paintings I'm creating based on photos of tools and talismans from 100 different women that relate to how each of them expresses herself.

We hear a lot these days about the importance of story—from story telling slams to marketers and media specialists creating full blown brands based around a story. Story is how we learn, it's how we connect to each other and to the larger world, and story is not limited to words alone.

I'm contacting creators and healers, thinkers and makers, wordsmiths and visionaries—women whose expression and voice in the world is passionate, strong and brave—asking them to participate. I've already gathered some amazing submissions, the project has momentum and the people who've participated have told me that it’s been an amazing experience for them.

Your needlepoint work is aMAZing, and I love how you've taken a craft that many might consider "old-fashioned" and made it relevant again. I'd love to include your "story" through a gathering of tools and talismans that you use to do your work and tell your stories.

I was intrigued and interested in being a part of Liz's project. Tools, Liz explained are ones that I use nearly everyday in my work or personal life. Talismans, she explained, refers to anything that is potent or magical or filled with goodness—for me.
I spent some time thinking about what I would like to present that was both useful and meaningful to me.  The photo below is what I sent to Liz.

This is what I wrote:
I am: A Taster of Color
I believe that “presentation” sets the tone of our aesthetic journey. I love to make things look beautiful, the more mundane the objects, the more I search for just the right way to make them hopelessly appealing. Hence my addiction with glass vials, with perfect boxes, with a custom hanging system for all my fibers, (and fibers, and fibers). A little notebook for jotting down lists, an array of lip-glosses for lips that need a little perking up, and my mini business cards that introduce me visually, these are always with me. Sumptuous fibers to drool over, along with my gold plated needles that are, to me, the epitome of indulgence and Ultrasuede, one of man’s great contributions to our world; these are what I make my art with. Tools make me happy, and with my little hammer I form a sheet of metal into an object, what wonder! And then there is the gold bracelet that my grandmother gave me when I was born, with my name beautifully engraved in Hebrew letters. This is where I came from; all the others are where I’m going. When you don’t know where you came from, the journey forward will be very poorly lit.

Liz has entered my story in her Journal. You can see the painting and the story on her site.  Take a look CLICK.

Cool, eh?

Different threads in the same colorways, such as a range of blues, or the same thread in lots of colorway combinations?  Would you like a bead and embellishment collections? Don't hesitate to request outside the box, I want to hear your most wild collection dreams!

September Collection
August Collection
July Collection

After much thought, (see HERE),  I've decided that I want to give away two Ultrasuede® collections to two of my readers and since there is nothing sinister in my request for your help, I don't see why I can't send out thank you gifts!  BUT, it is so very hard for me to randomly choose two recipients when I need to collect responses from various places so here is the only stipulation...  in order to be eligible to be a part of the random draw, you must give me your collection ideas in the comments on this blog.  Please make sure to comment to the blog and check back for the winning announcement!!

I'll be checking for your ideas and announce the winner on Monday, October 21st.

Thanks so much! xo

More Tassels, More Fibers and More Experimenting!

I'd like to introduce you to our new Double the Fun Tassels.

They are made of 2 Planet Earth Silk Ribbon cards, Ultrasuede, beads, and findings.  They are very easy to make and you have everything you need in a small cute kit, (well, maybe just a dab of fabric glue would be helpful).

Check our Etsy shop for some of the colors we have left.

Next, say hello to these fabulous color fiber bags! These are 11" x 10" project bags, strong fabric with a see through middle and a zipper on top. These bags will be filled with 17 different silk fibers, coordinated in color to the bag itself.   Also on ETSY.

Oh, and more, many more of the regular tassel kits, those that are made with just one card of silk ribbon, find them here.

and then, there is the progress I'm making on my Pheasant.  I'm enjoying this process very much and don't mind the tedious search for the right stitch, not one bit!

More about my co-pilots:

Sorry I had to run off yesterday.  Nina is feeling much better but still stayed home today to get more Mommy pampering.

On the second day of classes here at the "Factory" I was so surprised and excited to see a show-and-tell of my designs stitched by some of my co-pilots.  I'd like to share one in particular with you.  Carol stitched Windmills of Color, combining the colors on her own and coming up with a beautiful, sophisticated color scheme.  She told me she was very nervous and almost reluctant to try her own thing, but I, for one, am very happy she did.

On Sunday we worked on Samburu, the needlepoint and beading necklace.  I warned the ladies in advance that the piece is more difficult than it seems because it is stitched on the diagonal.  I went on and on, only to find out that they were not at all confused.  I guess it's just me, how embarrassing!

HANGING UP FOR THE HOLIDAYS - NEW KIT!!!

My book "My Point Exactly" has sold out.  Over 8000 copies are gone, ( just a few left for me). I hate to see the designs from the book go to needlepoint heaven not to be seen again, right?  Therefore...

The first of them, "FORTUNE" is back as a kit, or instruction booklet only, on my Etsy site.  It comes in three colorways and is perfect, just perfect, as a holiday project, a stitched piece for a dear friend, or a gift in the form of a kit, for a fellow stitcher.

Sunshine

The instructions come with detailed stitching illustrations and charts as well as instructions for finishing the piece as shown in these photos.  The Ultrasuede backing, the beads and a template that aides in getting the attractive shape, all included.  Fibers, canvas are there as well.

The kit includes all the goodies!!  Start with canvas, fibers, (silk overdyes, ribbon and metallics), glass beads, Ultrasuede for backing, (really yummy colors), and the lovely instructions.

If you know anything about me, you know that one of my fetishes is presentation.  For this holiday season I had beautiful Adorn wrapping paper made in order to offer each item perfectly wrapped, ready to go!  If you'd like your purchase wrapped, just send us a note!

Is finishing not for you?  You can send it on over to us. We will be happy to finish it for you, we just can't promise it for the holidays, sorry...  ($40 for the finishing).  Send us a note for more information.

So, like I said...  right here on Etsy.

I LOVE fiber bundles!

Do you love to have?  You know, have fibers and beads and fabric and tools.  Just have?

Do you have that inner conversation:

"Now now, you don't need this".

"I know, but I R E A L L Y want it".

I love to have!  And I always make sure that the second voice in the conversation wins!

So we just filled the studio with new fibers, then put them together with some beads, stones, Ultrasuede, pearls, in delightful thread packs.  They are posted on my Etsy website.

I would be perfectly happy putting together thread, bead, and fabric bundles all day long.

These have some great silks, overdyes, metallics. They would be delightful for a small design, simple composition, just let the threads speak for themselves.

Something as simple as the chart to the right.  Just like it says..."Let the Threads do the Talking!"
