Reporting on 2015 color: Marsala

It's that time again, the Pantone choice for color of the year.  And the judges say... Marsala.

Immediately I started a Pinterest board HERE.

Then I played with my threads and beads, but it wasn't quite right yet...

I thought it reminded me of one of my logo color combinations, but no, when I pulled the colors out I saw they were wrong.

I'll keep working on it, but could you look around in your home?  Do you have a needlepoint piece, a furniture piece, a dress or shoes that we can add to the collection of Pantone Color of the Year - Marsala?  Send it my way and I'll add it to the Pinterest board  (***).

I'm back from my wonderful trip to Israel. Hope to post a few photos soon.  Happy New Year to you all. I see many of you downloaded my freebie design for 2015, ENJOY!!

***(Just a quick note, I know there is some controversy about Pinterest and the legality of posting images.  I prefer not to enter the discussion, I understand the other viewpoints but we each make our choices. Thanks)

Thank you, you color enablers, you!

The new silk Color Conversation boxes have been so well received, thank you all!  I am always humbled by your endorsement of my love of color.  We have been replenishing our Etsy shop, trying to keep new and fresh combination offerings.  Here are some new ones along with their inspiration. Can you blame me for my addiction to coming up with  new and exciting silk conversations?

“While the 2013 color of the year, PANTONE 17-5641 Emerald, served as a symbol of growth, renewal and prosperity, Radiant Orchid reaches across the color wheel to intrigue the eye and spark the imagination,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “An invitation to innovation, Radiant Orchid encourages expanded creativity and originality, which is increasingly valued in today’s society.”

“An enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.”

Hot air, everywhere!!

When did this happen?  I pride myself in knowing when a new trend comes around. Not that it's some kind of serious accomplishment, but I just like to know what's what, when and where.  So I was checking out some of my regular blogs, and began noticing quite a bit of hot air!
Did you know about this?  And if you did, have you made, stitched, gone up in any hot air balloons lately?

The thing about birds.....is this a craze? There are birds everywhere, from the patches on kids clothes to the sheets on our beds. It is such a craze that the recent sketch comedy, "Portlandia", did a skit around the immortal words: "Put a Bird On it!" And Put a Bird on it we do--these winged little fellows are everywhere, you can't spend a day out of the house, or in the house, on the web, and not see a bird somewhere! Actually, here are a few now....

Birds of Felt

Tell me you have noticed this too??!! Is it just me?  I did a series of needlepoint birds a few years back, and suddenly the urge to do another round...should I do another set? I feel a flutter in my design hand.....

and my bird.
